April Danbi Son is a Korean American writer/director and producer based between NYC and Copenhagen. As a 90s kid, she grew up replaying The Coen Brothers’ films on VHS and sneaking into the local movie theater.

Her work explores the sensation of being an outsider and finding one's unconventional place in the world.

Sinners, her dark comedy TV pilot, recently won the The Script Lab competition (2024). Her short film, Gwisin, won Silver for the Young Director Award (2024), Dreampitch category, as part of the Cannes Lions Festival.

When she’s not writing, you can find her gallery hopping for inspiration, eating soup dumplings in Chinatown or filming her friends on Super 8.

Currently, she’s writing her first feature film.
