April Danbi Son is a Korean American writer/director based between NYC, Copenhagen and soon, Barcelona.

Her writing explores themes of girlhood, morality, and identity through a dark comedy lens — balancing existential dread with levity. 

Sinners, her dark comedy TV pilot, recently won the The Script Lab competition (2024). Gwisin, her short film, won Silver for the Young Director Award (2024), Dreampitch category, as part of the Cannes Lions Festival.

She was selected for Coverfly’s Writer Development Program (2024).

When she’s not writing, you can find her kickboxing, filming her friends on Super 8, or missing her cats while she’s on vacation~

Currently, she’s writing her first feature film.
